Sustainable Development award at the Grands Prix du Design

11.01.2019

With around 500 projects completed by more than 200 firms, the institute that is the Grands Prix du design showcases Quebec’s designers and architects. The sustainable Development award was given to Maison Simons Galerie de la Capitale, the first Canadian retail store to have a zero carbon balance.

“The jury rewarded the brilliant integration of solar panels, the elegantly deconstructed facade and the major scale of the green project.”

Zero Carbon balance: First in Canada in its category

Signed LemayMichaud, in collaboration with Designstead, the project’s environmental objective was to reflect Simons’ green philosophy and values, which the company aims to transpose as much in the physical environment as in its operational choices and the certified products they offer. In this sense, the project stands out as an exceptional example of ecoconstruction, consumption reduction and energy production.

Congratulations to all members involved in the success of this project!
