Simons Grows in Toronto

Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, the Simons store at CF Toronto Eaton Centre spans 112,000 square feet across three floors. Developed in collaboration with Gensler, the project expresses the brand’s distinctive identity through an approach where creativity is reflected both in the spaces themselves and in the artwork that inhabits them.

Inspired by the Perennial Ephemera concept, also developed for the Yorkdale Centre store, the project explores the natural cycles of light, growth and transformation. Volumes, materials and lighting effects create a sequence of spaces that encourages exploration and discovery.

The store balances softness and vitality through a series of distinct fashion spaces, conceived as boutique-like environments unfolding across multiple floors. Each area has its own visual identity while contributing to a cohesive overall composition, creating a rich and dynamic journey in which the discovery of the collections is complemented by a carefully orchestrated spatial experience.

Art plays a central role in the design. The Walk of Frames, a circulation path featuring original works by Canadian artists, engages in dialogue with immersive digital installations seamlessly integrated into the architecture. These interventions transform the store into a place of discovery, where artistic expression and the shopping experience enrich one another.

As part of the mandate, LemayMichaud was responsible for the execution of the drawings and construction administration, contributing to the realization of the concept developed by Gensler. The team supported the project throughout its implementation, coordinating the various stakeholders, integrating architectural and artistic elements, and ensuring that the technical details remained faithful to the original design intent.

With this second location in Toronto, La Maison Simons reaffirms its presence in Canada’s major urban centres while continuing its commitment to creating environments where creativity, quality and customer experience come together. Through a thoughtful approach to retail, the project highlights the dialogue between architecture, design and art within a bright and inviting environment that encourages discovery.
