Simons Yorkdale

Simons Meets Toronto
As part of the development of its first urban location in Toronto, La Maison Simons partnered with Gensler and LemayMichaud to bring a large-scale retail environment to life at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. Building on the brand’s distinctive identity, the 118,000-square-foot project spans two floors and creates an immersive environment where fashion, design and creativity come together through a carefully orchestrated experience.
Guided by the Perennial Ephemera design concept, inspired by the natural cycles of light, growth and transformation, the project explores the relationship between movement, materiality and the customer experience. The design takes a thoughtful approach to materials, volumes and atmospheres, with a spatial organization designed to naturally guide visitors through a series of distinct environments.

The shopping areas are conceived as individual boutique-like environments that showcase the collections and brands while offering a fluid and personalized journey. Punctuated by artistic installations and moments of discovery, the design creates an open, immersive environment that reflects Simons’ experiential approach to retail.
As part of the mandate, LemayMichaud was responsible for the execution of the drawings and construction administration, supporting the realization of the concept developed by Gensler. Through a rigorous and collaborative approach, the team coordinated the various components of the project, integrated technical details and ensured that the design intent was maintained throughout the implementation process.
Beyond its commercial function, Simons Yorkdale offers a destination for discovery, where architecture, design and culture come together. Dedicated spaces for the brand’s exclusive collections, Canadian designers and artistic collaborations contribute to creating a destination that celebrates creativity in all its forms.
