Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails

Quebec City
Restaurant
2020

This space left vacant by Desjardins was the trigger for the creation of Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails. Located on a very busy street corner for tourists and strollers of Old Quebec, this building is highlighted as much during the day by its large windows that open onto the street as by the transparency offering a view of its entire dining room in the evening.

From the outside, one can already admire the white wooden ceiling from which hang light fixtures that plunge the room into a cosy atmosphere. It is not only the facade and the name of the restaurant that give a nod to the spirit of the former financial institution: antique furniture and heritage objects, old entrance doors reused in the washrooms, the safe that serves as a reception desk and the old safety lockers decorate the place.

In a decor where new and old blend together, different raw materials come together: custom mosaic ceramic flooring, walnut and white marble tables, leather benches and brick wall. Behind the bar is a glittering copper wall covered with pennies. Not to mention the antique doors and its door knob that act as coat hanger at the front of the bar.

The bistro, which can accommodate 62 people in its dining room, also offers a terrace with 30 seats, as well as an interior courtyard that can seat a dozen guests.
