A new Cochon Dingue opened in the heart of Old Quebec and LEMAYMICHAUD is proud to collaborate once again for this new Restos Plaisirs establishment. Known for its rustic atmosphere, the French-inspired bistro, previously located in the Montcalm district, is moving right by Porte St-Jean at the entrance of the historic city centre.

Inspired by a more urban environment and the history of the place, the new concept of this latest addition to the Cochon Dingue family of restaurants presents a muted and modern atmosphere, enhanced by the presence of natural materials set against a deep indigo background.

The building possessing natural charm, several original features are highlighted in the interior design, such as the exposed ceiling structure, the existing concrete and brick walls as well as the original moldings and windows, thus preserving the warmth of a yesteryear.

On the floor, the black and white mosaic, signature element of Cochon Dingue restaurants, brings a “French Bistro” touch to a contemporary atmosphere.

In the center of the space is a majestic bar that can seat up to 20 people, above which hangs a huge and curvy bar canopy made of golden tubular metal, reminiscent of the classic French bistro and allowing the display of drinks, glassware and local products. The canopy is itself sits at the centre of a huge opening, giving a glimpse of the second floor dining room. The connection between the two floors is provided by not only this opening but also by the presence of imposing antique mirrors.

By moving into a historic building, this project required a great deal of work by the team to bring it up to code and comply to regulation in order to address the various structural or technical issues.

This new location can accommodate up to 225 patrons on two floors and opens entirely onto the popular and bustling rue Saint-Jean, to the delight of tourists and locals alike.
