The 13th edition of the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN was very positive for LEMAYMICHAUD. In addition to receiving three awards, including Project of the Year, our colleague’s project stood out during the evening. Maude Hébert, a young interior design graduate and member of the LEMAYMICHAUD team for the past 2 years, won the Prix étudiant FERDIE for her project Insieme, an award that recognizes the excellence of design student projects in Quebec.
Insieme, a place of convergence in the heart of the city
Insieme is the idea of a unifying café located in the eastern suburbs of the island of Montreal, whose new glass façade offers a breathtaking view of the greenery of the Lebel Island Park, which faces it. The objective of the café’s implementation was to provide a place of convergence in the heart of the city. Through a discovery workshop, the café offers its citizens an important outreach for local businesses. The design found its orientation in biophily and the concept of public spaces by presenting organic circulation and forms that are in connection with the green environment of the park. The many visual breakthroughs offer an abundance of natural light.
The happy mix of textures and colours inspired by those perceived in the urban and natural landscape offer a two-storey environment where the experience of relaxing over a cup of coffee aims at reducing the stress of daily life.
Congratulations, Maude! LEMAYMICHAUD is proud to count you among the talented individuals that make up our firm!
